Los Feliz

Los Feliz is a hilly neighborhood named for its land grantee, Jose Vicente Feliz. Located just north of East Hollywood and Silver Lake, Los Feliz is nestled against Griffith Park - home to the Griffith Observatory and Greek Teatre - and the Santa Monica Mountains. Its borders are Hollywood Boulevard to the south, Western Avenue to the west, and Interstate-5 to the East.

Points of Interest

  • Griffith Park
One of the largest urban parks in the country, Griffith Park covers 4,210 acres of land on the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. It's known for its untamed, rugged terrian that's perfect for hiking and horseback riding. It's also home to more urban attractions, including the Los Angeles Zoo, the Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theatre, several golf courses, and an antique carousel. It's also home to the famous Hollywood sign and has served as the backdrop for more than one blockbuster film. Every Christmas, the park is transformed by the LADWP into one of the largest holiday lights displays in the city.
  • Griffith Observatory

  • Griffith Observatory
Its infamous art deco architecture and domed ceiling make Griffith Observatory of the most recognizable features of the Los Angeles skyline. Originally built in the 1930s, the building was expanded and renovated in 2006. The observatory is free and open to the public, though there is a small fee charged for shows in the 290 seat Samuel Oschin Planetarium Theater. Free exhibits include a Foucault pendulum, a refracting telescope, a solar telescope, and a thirty-eight foot relief model of the moon.

  • The Greek Theatre
Located in Griffith Park, the Greek Theater is one of the premiere concert venues in Los Angeles. This 5,870 seat outdoor amphitheater is owned by the city of Los Angeles and has won Best Small Outdoor Venue - presented by Pollstar Magazine - seven times in the past eight years.

  • Los Angeles Zoo
The Los Angeles Zoo is home to about 1,100 animals from all over the world. It has been used as a filmming location for many films and is known for its rare California Condor breeding program. It is also one of the few zoos in the world to have a Mountain Tapir in its collection.
  • Dresden

  • The Dresden
Made famous in Swingers and That Thing You Do, The Dresden is a classic Hollywood supper club that hasn't changed a bit since it opened in 1964. The main dining room is a schintzy mecca of white booths, gold accets, and faux-Asian screens that serves a steakhouse menu. The rock-walled bar in the next room is what it's really known for, however. Every night performers Marty and Elayne - still apparently wearing the same costumes from their debut at the Dresden in 1982 - entertain patrons with lounge takes on popular music from the past five decades.
